Northern Territory Police have arrested three male youths in relation to an attempted burglary with a weapon in The Gap overnight.
Around midnight, police received a report of three youths attempting to gain entry to a property in Gnoilya Street. One of the youths allegedly threatened a resident with a knife before the group fled the scene. Members from Operation Grimmel and Strike Force Viper, alongside general duties officers and the Dog Operations Unit were immediately deployed, with Patrol Dog Boss tracking the offenders to a nearby property on Arunga Street. The three offenders aged 12, 13 and 14 years old were apprehended within the residence without incident.
The 14-year-old has been charged with Going armed in public, Aggravated assault, Make a threat to kill, Posses carry use controlled weapon, and Property offences.
The 13 and 12 year olds will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said, "I commend the collaborative work of all involved resulting in the fast apprehension of the offenders. Patrol Dog Boss was instrumental in the arrest and is a testament to the training implemented by the Dog Operation Unit".
