The Victorian Government has announced machinery of government changes which will take effect from 1 January 2023. These changes mean the current Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) will become the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR).
The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions is firmly focused on driving a strong and resilient economy that benefits all Victorians – by creating more opportunities for people through jobs and skills; supporting businesses and industries to grow and prosper; and building vibrant communities and regions.
Penelope McKay is Acting Secretary of the department.
Since joining DJPR in 2019 Penelope has led corporate delivery and priority projects as Associate Secretary; Deputy Secretary, Corporate Services; and as interim CEO of the Office of the Commonwealth Games. She has worked in state and Commonwealth departments, most recently the Victorian Departments of Premier and Cabinet and Treasury and Finance.
From 1 January 2023 DJSIR will support the following portfolios and ministers:
- Minister for Industry and Innovation, Minister for Manufacturing Sovereignty, Minister for Employment, DJSIR Coordinating Minister, Ben Carroll
- Minister for Training and Skills, Minister for Higher Education, Gayle Tierney
- Minister for Trade and Investment, Tim Pallas
- Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Minister for Creative Industries, Steve Dimopoulos
- Minister for Community Sport, Minister for Suburban Development, Ros Spence
- Minister for Commonwealth Games Delivery, Jacinta Allan
- Minister for Regional Development, Minister for Commonwealth Games Legacy, Harriet Shing
- Minister for Outdoor Recreation, Sonya Kilkenny
- Minister for Small Business, Natalie Suleyman
