The Small Business Assistance Grant - December 2021 will assist small businesses and sole traders in the hospitality and events sectors that meet the eligibility criteria. Businesses must be located in the Perth and Peel region and demonstrate a reduction in turnover of at least 30 per cent compared to the same 11-day period last year.

The final payment will be based upon the number of days that a business was impacted over the period. Employing businesses may receive $1,130 for each impacted day, while sole traders may receive $400 for each impacted day.

Small businesses can check their eligibility and apply online at https://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au, with payments expected to commence by the end of January.

As stated by Small Business Minister Don Punch:

"This financial package will provide targeted support to small businesses, including self-employed creative and event workers, directly impacted by the necessary public health measures put in place over the Christmas and New Year period.

"The festive season is traditionally a peak period for sectors including hospitality, entertainment, events and catering. The McGowan Government has created an assistance program to help those businesses that experienced cancellations and reductions in turnover while the necessary public health measures were in place.

"A fast-track facility has also been introduced to streamline payments and ensure businesses can get financial support as quickly as possible.

"I'd like to thank all WA small businesses for their understanding and co-operation in keeping our State as safe as possible as we manage our safe transition towards easing our borders."

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"The Getting the Show Back on the Road+ program has updated guidelines available on the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries website to provide support for eligible event and festival organisers.

"Additionally, I encourage small business suppliers and contractors in the events industry to check out the Small Business Assistance Grant and lodge an application if their business is eligible."
