Ms Katharine O'Donnell has been appointed as Director Education Regulation.
Education, Children and Youth Minister Roger Jaensch congratulated Ms O'Donnell who brings extensive knowledge and experience to this role.
"Ms O'Donnell has held a number of senior management roles within the Tasmanian public sector, including as the Registrar, Education since 2018," Minister Jaensch said.
"In this new role Ms O'Donnell will lead the implementation of the Review of Education Regulation and provide ongoing strategic leadership across the education regulators including the Office of the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification, the Office of the Education Registrar and the Teachers Registration Board."
Ms O'Donnell has been appointed to the position for a period of five years.
A recruitment process will soon commence to appoint a new Registrar, Education.
"I look forward to continuing to work with Ms O'Donnell in her new role." Minister Jaensch said.
