Arrest Applecross / Mount Pleasant incident

Fremantle Detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an incident in Mount Pleasant (Applecross) at about 3.15am on Tuesday, 15 June 2021.

The victim, a 19-year-old man spoke with the occupants of a vehicle near Helm Street. He walked away and it is alleged at the intersection of Sleat Road, one of the occupants from the vehicle, assaulted him whilst armed with a machete.

The victim's left hand was almost severed by the machete. He was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for surgery.

A 27-year-old man from Port Kennedy has been charged with:-

• Grievous Bodily Harm;

• Common Assault; and

• Being Armed in a Way that May Cause Fear.

He is due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court today, 23 June 2021.
