Arrests Made for Violent Theft, Assault in Darwin Suburbs

Strike Force Trident have arrested three youths following multiple incidents throughout Darwin and the Northern Suburbs this morning.

Around 9am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received reports that a 70-year-old female was approached by three youths, two females and one male, in Darwin City on Shadforth lane. One of the youths allegedly assaulted the 70-year-old victim before fleeing the scene.

Later, around 11:30am, the JESCC received a report that three youths approached a vehicle that was parked in the carpark of a school in Karama. The vehicle was occupied by the female driver and her three children in the back seat.

It is alleged that one of the female youths entered the vehicle and threatened the driver before stealing the vehicle keys and other personal items. The group then fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, Strike Force Trident located arrested the three youths, one male aged 12 and two females aged 15.

Further investigation indicated that the incidents are linked.

The offenders remain in police custody with charges expected to follow.
