Arson And Wilful Damage Charges, Sippy Downs

Police have charged five teenagers following investigations into a fire in Sippy Downs last month.

Around 2.18am on 9 August, emergency services were called to a fire inside a rubbish bin at an athletics club on Olympic Way.

The bin was destroyed and the athletics track the bin had been sitting on was significantly damaged.

Following subsequent investigations, a 15-year-old Palmview boy, a 14-year-old Palmview boy and a 14-year-old Sippy Downs boy have all been charged with one count each of arson, wilful damage, and face masked, blackened or disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

Two 13-year-old Sippy Downs boys were also charged with arson, and face masked, blackened or disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

They have all been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
