Assault Investigation, Yarrabilba

Detectives from the Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) have charged a teenager following an investigation into an assault at Yarrabilba on 6 June.

At approximately 7.35pm, it will be alleged a group of four males attended a bakery on Yarrabilba Drive and began causing a disturbance outside the business.

Police will further allege one of the youths threw a bottle at the bakery, damaging the shopfront.

A short time later, it will be alleged an altercation occurred between the group and a man near the entrance to the shopping centre on Gold Drive.

Police allege a 16-year-old boy threw a rock at the man, causing a serious leg injury.

The 46-year-old Yarrabilba man sustained a fracture to his leg and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Following extensive investigations, on 11 June, a 16-year-old Yarrabilba boy was located by detectives and dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act in relation to one count each of grievous bodily harm, attempted enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and wilful damage.

Investigations are ongoing.
