Attempted murder charge at Capalaba, QLD

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a man was allegedly set on fire at Capalaba earlier today, sustaining life threatening injuries, Queensland Police say.

Around 9am, it will be alleged the 34-year-old man poured an accelerant on a 65-year-old man, who was asleep in bed at a Teesdale Road residence.

The man ran from the residence with the flames extinguished by members of the public before emergency services arrived.

He remains in a critical condition in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A 34-year-old Kooralbyn man has been charged with one count of attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
