Literacy lovers are in for a treat with an Author Showcase to feature four different author talks during the month of August at Macquarie Regional Library's Dubbo branch.
Whether you're a passionate reader, love writing or simply enjoy hearing great stories, Macquarie Regional Library Author Showcase is the perfect opportunity to meet talented Australian authors and discover the inspiration behind their books.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the author talks at Macquarie Regional Library are always very popular and this August the community is spoilt for options.
"In conversation events and author talks bring stories to life, sharing the story behind the book and also their journey to becoming an author," Clr Black said.
The Author Showcase at Dubbo Library includes:
- Gwen Wilson on Wednesday 5 August 2026 at 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Gwen will be discussing her debut historical fiction novel Louisa released this year which was inspired by her family history.
- Michael Winkler and Wayne Marshall will be in conversation with Jen Cowley on Thursday 20 August 2026 at 12:30pm – 1:30pm discussing their latest books, Griefdogg and Henry Goes Bush respectively. Come prepared for plenty of laughs, thoughtful conversation and an opportunity to ask questions.
- Mudgee based crime author Rhys Gard on Tuesday 25 August 2026 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm chatting about this debut novel Four Dogs Missing.
- Book launch by the Dubbo Field Naturalists on Sunday 30 August from 12pm – 1pm for their latest edition of their book, Plants and Animals of the Dubbo Region.
Macquarie Regional Library Manager Kathryn McAlister said, the library is proud to deliver one of its strongest author programs yet, with four great events scheduled throughout the month.
"This month gives community members the chance to explore a range of genres, ask questions and connect with fellow book lovers at the same time."
"You'll hear first-hand about each writer's creative process, the experiences that shaped their stories and the journey from idea to published book," Ms McAlister said.
"You may leave with new reading recommendations and fascinating insights into the world of writing."
Books will be available to purchase at each author talk event.
