Big Smiles As New Marjorie Eastick Playground Opens

The City of Casey is welcoming local families to swing, spin, slide and scoot at the newly upgraded Marjorie Eastick Playground in Hampton Park, following its $1 million upgrade.

Designed for children of all ages and abilities, the playground features a wide range of play opportunities, including a fun scooter track with road safety elements, a half court with basketball and netball goals, slides, rope and nature play climbing elements, inground trampolines, an inclusive carousel, flying fox, swings, musical play features and a rocker.

A fitness station and junior sized goals for AFL, soccer and rugby also encourage active play for older children and carers.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the playground was a welcome addition to a much- loved community space.

"Marjorie Eastick Reserve has long been a local favourite, and these upgrades reflect what the community told us they wanted for this space through community engagement undertaken mid-last year," he said.

The upgrade also includes extensive landscaping, with new canopy trees and indigenous plants, as well as a large shelter with picnic tables and a barbecue, new seating, bike hoops and a drinking fountain.

Cr Koomen added that Council remains committed to supporting community health and wellbeing through quality open spaces.

"We understand the holistic benefits of getting outside, staying active and connecting with others, and we are continuing to invest in parks, playgrounds and sporting ovals, with $61 million committed over the next 10 years," he said.

The previous playground equipment has also been repurposed, with items donated through Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds to be reused overseas.
