BMJ Commission On Future Of Academic Medicine

BMJ

Academic medicine brings together science, humanities, social science, health, and social care to improve the health and wellbeing of people and the planet in an equitable manner. For decades, its role has been to train doctors who have led on generating research and provide services to improve health outcomes in a growing global population. But academic medicine is broken, and in urgent need of a revolution.

The BMJ Commission on the Future of Academic Medicine aims to revive academic medicine and redefine its role for the rest of the century. The commission seeks to trigger a global conversation to build on what is working, to fix what is not, and to realign the role and function of academic medicine to ensure its relevance for the future.

The BMJ will work with our regional advisory boards to reflect on priorities and future perspectives for academic medicine, and also commission articles on cross-cutting themes deemed relevant globally, assuring broad and inclusive representation.

We also seek your submissions and contributions for publication, which will be considered by The BMJ in the usual way.
