Botany Road Parking: Bayside

Bayside Council is set to respond to community concerns regarding parking availability, road space allocation and signage along Botany Road following a resolution passed at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 23 April.

Botany Road is a State classified road and falls under the jurisdiction of Transport for NSW, meaning any significant traffic or parking changes require State Government assessment and approval.

Council has heard ongoing feedback from local businesses, residents and visitors about parking pressures and access within the Botany Road shopping precincts, with many calling for practical improvements to better support local trade and customer convenience.

Transport for NSW has previously advised that parking changes are not supported without a broader traffic study, while funding constraints have delayed any comprehensive review of the corridor.

In response, Council will now seek an update from TfNSW on the status and likelihood of funding for a proposed Botany Road corridor traffic and road space study, as well as advice on any interim measures that could be introduced without compromising traffic safety or network performance.

Council will also write to the Member for Maroubra, and Minister John Graham, seeking their support in advocating for TfNSW to prioritise this matter and help deliver practical solutions for parking and accessibility along the Botany Road shopping precinct.

Mayor Edward McDougall said:

"We know parking availability and access are important issues for local businesses, residents and visitors, and Council is determined to keep pushing for sensible, workable solutions," Mayor McDougall said.

"Botany Road is a key commercial corridor, and we want to see it supported with planning and infrastructure that helps businesses thrive while maintaining safety and efficient traffic movement."
