Broadway in Ellenbrook welcomes thousands of new plants

The City of Swan has planted 47 trees and 7155 ground covers in the median islands along The Broadway in Ellenbrook, between Elmridge Parkway and Maffina Parade.

The new plants and trees are native, waterwise species, such as the Coastal Moort (Eucalyptus utilis) and Snow Queen (Eucalytpus victrix).

As well as improving the aesthetic of the area, the groundcovers will help to supress weeds, while the new trees will increase the City's urban canopy, improve air quality and help combat the 'heat island' effect.

Irrigation has been installed at the site and the plants received additional hand watering for two weeks to help them establish and put down strong, healthy roots.

The planting is part the City's The Broadway duplication project, between The Promenade and Bordeaux Lane in Ellenbrook, to reduce congestion and improve the road's safety and level of service.
