Townsville detectives are investigating a burglary and assault in Douglas yesterday afternoon (July 19).
Around 5.30pm, five men entered a Riverbend Drive house via the garage and stole property.
The resident attempted to intervene and was pushed over by one of the offenders.
They then fled to a waiting stolen Toyota Fortuner.
The Fortuner was driven a short distance, and stopped to do a U-turn. A neighbour attempted to detain the occupants of the vehicle but was assaulted.
The resident and neighbour both received minor injuries.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to come forward, and are asking homeowners, businesses and motorists in the vicinity to provide any CCTV or dashcam footage.
