Burswood Assault and Damage Charges - Update

Perth Detectives have charged a third person as part of an ongoing investigation into a violent incident outside an entertainment complex in Burswood on Friday 29 January 2021.

About 10:30pm a group of about 20-30 people, believed to be mainly intoxicated juveniles, arrived at the Great Eastern Highway venue on a 'party bus' and gathered on a footpath outside the food court area of the complex. A short time later a second group of about 50 people, a wedding party, arrived on two buses.
It will be alleged members of the first, smaller group became violent and attacked members of the second group. Several vehicles in the immediate area were damaged.
Security at the venue intervened and police attended. Members of the first group fled the scene as police arrived. Three members of the second group were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries they received.
Earlier this week a 16-year-old boy from Girrawheen and a 19-year-old man from Coolbellup were arrested and charged in relation to this incident. They are now progressing through the judicial process.
Yesterday, Wednesday 3 February 2021, Perth Detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy. It will be alleged he approached a man who was laying on the road unconscious, or semi-conscious, and punched him to the head and then stomped on his head while he was unable to defend himself. It will be further alleged he continued to act in a disorderly manner and damaged a nearby vehicle.
A 17-year-old boy from Marangaroo has been charged with 'Endanger, life, health or safety of a person', 'Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property' and 'Disorderly Behaviour in Public'.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Children's Court today, Thursday 4 February 2021.
