From toddlers to grandparents, Camden Council's Families Week program has something for every branch of the family tree.
Families Week 2026 will begin next Monday (11 May) and will continue until Sunday 17 May. It's a national celebration of the people who matter most and an opportunity to reflect on the strength of family bonds, reconnect with loved ones and participate in activities that bring us together.
This year's program includes:
- Australian Breastfeeding Association's monthly mother's group, which is open to all feeding methods, on Monday 11 May, 10am-12pm, at Spring Farm Community Centre;
- Child Restraint Fitting Day on Thursday 14 May, with appointments available between 9am and 2pm;
- Family Fun Lab, where parents and carers with children aged between nine and 12 years are invited to join us for a relaxed and engaging family afternoon of fun, hands-on activities, on Friday 15 May, 4-6pm, at Julia Reserve Community Centre;
- Family Yoga Session on Sunday 17 May, 2.30-4pm, at Sandown Community Room, Oran Park Library;
- Special Families Week themed Storytime sessions throughout the week at 11am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Narellan Library; Monday and Wednesday at Oran Park Library; and Tuesday and Thursday at Camden Library;
- Families Week Sensory Play sessions throughout the week at 10am-12pm on Tuesday at Narellan Library; Thursday at Oran Park Library; and Monday at Camden Library;
- Creative Kids Competition, which invites young people aged between four and 14 years to get creative and share their stories through art, short stories or poems to go into the running to win prices. Entries open at 9am on Monday 11 May and close at 5pm on Monday 25 May; and
- Playgroup Calendar, a welcoming space where children learn through play and parents build meaningful connections. There are a number of playgroups available across the Camden area, which run on different days and at different times.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said Council was proud to celebrate Families Week each year.
"Our families are often our biggest blessings - the reason we work so hard, the reason we are our best selves and our biggest sources of love and comfort," she said.
"While everyone's family looks a little different and operates in different ways, every family is unique, strong, vibrant and beautiful in their own way. Families bring a special joy to the Camden area and to me personally.
"Camden is also one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with young families making up 28.6 per cent of households in Camden. This figure is only getting bigger as we expand.
"I encourage you all to find an activity or event that you're interested in, come along, get out in Camden and have a great time with your loved ones. Or even come up with your own celebration!"
Some of the scheduled activities require bookings and have a small fee attached. For more information, and to secure your place, visit camdenkids.com.au/activities/families-week-2026/
