FedDev Ontario invests nearly $5 million to help local companies advance innovative technology, boost productivity and expand opportunities
Sarnia is home to a strong industrial and manufacturing sector, with businesses contributing to the region's economy through advanced manufacturing, clean technology, energy and other innovative industries. Its strategic location and established industrial base position the region to take advantage of new opportunities while responding to changing global markets and supply chains.
Today, Marilyn Gladu, Member of Parliament for Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong, on behalf of the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a combined investment of nearly $5 million to support two Sarnia businesses as they strengthen their operations, improve productivity and pursue new opportunities.
AlumaPower Corporation is undertaking an $8-million project, with FedDev Ontario providing $4 million through the Regional Defence Investment Initiative, to support the commercialization of its aluminum-fueled generator systems. The project will help improve productivity, strengthen operational resilience, and advance Canadian-developed clean energy technology for potential defence applications and position Canadian innovation for integration into global defence supply chains.
Promart Industrial Products Ltd. is undertaking an almost $2-million project, with FedDev Ontario support of close to $900,000 through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, to modernize operations and strengthen manufacturing capabilities in order to diversify its markets and mitigate tariff impacts. The investment includes adding equipment and facility upgrades designed to increase capacity, precision and productivity. The project will help the company improve productivity and strengthen its operations and resilience.
These investments demonstrate the Government of Canada's commitment to supporting businesses across southern Ontario as they adapt to evolving markets, strengthen supply chains and seize new opportunities for growth.
