Advanced manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Canadian economy, producing important goods for the domestic and international markets while supporting middle-class jobs for Canadians across the country. Advances in technology are helping Canadian manufacturers to innovate, expand and improve their processes to better compete and stay on the cutting edge.

During these challenging times, the Government of Canada is stepping up efforts to ensure Northern Ontario manufacturers are well positioned to be part of our economic recovery and emerge from it stronger and more competitive than ever before. This involves helping manufacturers expand and modernize their operations, adopt new technologies and invest in state-of-the-art equipment to enhance productivity and maximize efficiencies.

Terry Sheehan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a Government of Canada investment of $841,973 to support the expansion of the New Ontario Brewing Company. This strategic investment will allow the brewery to expand and purchase automated processing equipment to enhance production and reduce operating costs. Once complete, this priority project will help the company increase capacity, sales and exports, while creating up to 12 new middle-class jobs.
