AI Tool Speeds Up Sexual Health Facts Access

At a time when information is proliferating with immense speed, finding evidence-based, trustworthy content is a challenge. ChatHRP is a new AI-assisted tool launched for beta-testing to help policy-makers, experts and health workers find sexual and reproductive health and rights facts fast.

Created by HRP (the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction), the tool responds to queries with verified information.

ChatHRP only draws from research and guidance produced by HRP and the World Health Organization, helping users navigate its extensive sexual and reproductive health and rights knowledge base.

The tool uses advanced natural language processing and retrieval‑augmented generation to connect users with precise, referenced content in real time. Its multilingual capabilities and low‑bandwidth functionality ensures its usability around the world, even in low-bandwidth settings.

ChatHRP stands out for its focus on SRHR and its commitment to accuracy. With regular updates as new HRP materials are published, this tool helps reduce time spent searching through long PDFs or navigating multiple platforms.

The harms of misinformation in sexual and reproductive health and rights were documented recently in an HRP-supported study that revealed that misinformation in SRHR is a systemic challenge with profound human rights implications. The scoping review reveals how SRHR misinformation undermines informed decision-making and impacts health systems, laws and policies, among other harms.

In this beta-testing phase, the tool is intended for a broad professional audience. Policy-makers will be able to draw on up‑to‑date evidence for evidence-based policy development. Researchers can quickly locate sources for academic work. Health-care workers will gain easy access to HRP evidence to continue their learning across comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights. Civil society groups can efficiently verify information needed for rights‑based campaigns.

To illustrate how it can be used, ChatHRP responds to practical, specialist‑relevant questions such as:

A mobile and 4 conversation bubbles, featuring example questions, on a light blue background."What are the latest violence against women data in Oceania for women between 15-49?"

"What are the recommendations on managing diabetes during pregnancy?"

"Can you give me some talking points on the prevention of PPH?"

"Can PrEP and contraception be used at the same time?"

"Can I use an IUD when I am breastfeeding?"

If the tool cannot answer the information at that time, please provide feedback through the mechanism in place so it can be addressed.

Everyone, everywhere has the right to accurate and trusted health information. ChatHRP offers a clear path to reliable knowledge. It guides users toward sources that have been rigorously developed and validated, helping ensure that decisions about health and rights are informed by evidence, away from algorithms, opinions or misinformation.
