Investment will modernize and expand Jubilant Radiopharma's Kirkland facility, strengthen Canada's life sciences sector and support high-quality jobs in Quebec
At a time of economic uncertainty as tariffs reshape the global trade landscape, the Government of Canada is investing in the capacity to produce, innovate and manufacture critical biomedical products at home and strengthen the country's domestic supply chains.
Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, announced a Strategic Response Fund (SRF) investment of $23.8 million in Jubilant Radiopharma Inc. to modernize and expand its biomanufacturing facility in Kirkland, Quebec, to help meet the growing demand for radiopharmaceutical products.
This investment will support Jubilant Radiopharma's $94.5 million project to upgrade its Kirkland facility and establish it as a global centre of excellence for radiopharmaceutical production and research and development (R&D). The project will modernize production lines, create new production spaces and upgrade laboratory, storage and shipping areas for key radiopharmaceutical products. The project will also create and maintain 225 high-quality jobs in Quebec and support 35 co-op placements for students. It will also strengthen collaborations with Canadian universities, research institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence-assisted diagnostics and nuclear medicine research. This investment builds on Canadian strengths in medical isotopes and supports the growth of the domestic value chains.
