Cannabis found in car fire, South Australia

A utility with an interesting load has caught on fire on the Port River Expressway.

Just before 11.30am, Saturday 10 August, police and fire crews were called to the Port River Expressway, Wingfield, approximately 550m west of Hanson Road after reports a Ford Ranger utility was on fire.

Fire crews extinguished the fire, however whilst doing so, discovered in the tray of the Ute was six cannabis plants, as well as some other equipment used to cultivate cannabis.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor burns to his hands and the passenger escaped without injury.

Western District detectives are investigating.

The car fire is not deemed suspicious.
