Cardiff University has risen five places in the QS World Rankings, taking it to 181st in the world.
The rise reaffirms the University's reputation as a leading global teaching and research institution.
The QS World Rankings is one of most-consulted independent evaluations of the world's top 1,500 universities.
It draws on opinion from 175,000 academic faculty members and 105,000 employers, and the distribution and performance of 17 million research papers.
Institutions are ranked on nine measures including Academic Reputation, Sustainability and Citations.
Among the 90 UK institutions included in this year's table, Cardiff ranks 26th with improvement in areas including International Research Network, Faculty Student Ratio and Employment Outcomes.
The news comes a week after Cardiff saw its position rise in the Complete University Guide, where it is ranked as one of top 25 institutions in the UK .
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wendy Larner said: "It's really encouraging to see Cardiff rise in the QS World Rankings. It reflects the dedication and expertise of the entire University community."
