Cardinia Shire welcomes funding for Lakeside Renewal Project

Cardinia Shire Council has welcomed the announcement of $100,000 from the Victorian Government's Building Works Program towards the Lakeside Renewal Project.

The project will see a number of 'parklets' popping up at the Lakeside shopping strip and other commercial areas in the shire.

'Parklets' are parking bays that are repurposed to create spaces for pedestrian activity and outdoor dining.

The project also includes improvements to the grounds of Cardinia Cultural Centre, new public seating, single level walkways, landscaping, lighting and a mural.

Works will commence in November 2020, pending COVID-19 restrictions, and are expected to be complete in April 2021.

The $150,000 project is jointly funded with $100,000 from the Victorian Government and a $50,000 contribution from Council.
