Carnarvon Heritage Precinct Revitalisation Project

The Carnarvon Heritage Group welcomed the Regional Development Don Punch to Carnarvon today to view their plans to revitalise the Heritage Precinct.

TheHeritagePrecinct,whichsurroundsthehistoricOneMileJetty,isrichinhistoryandhouses, many priceless museum artefacts, and infrastructure from the beginning of the 20th century.

The Carnarvon Heritage Precinct also comprises of the lighthouse keeper's cottage

museum, shearing hall of fame, water tower, remnants of the Carnarvon tramway

and a memorial to Australia's worst naval disaster - the sinking of the HMAS Sydney.

The funding will update the Heritage Precinct Masterplan, improve visual amenity, drive tourism, and conserve the remaining elements of the port.

Thisfunding,along with the $2.78millionfor theCarnarvonHeritagePrecinctOneMileJettyInterpretiveCentre,confirmstheimportanceof this historical asset to the WA Government.
