The peak advisory body for some of the largest providers of community care has welcomed the news the Victorian Government is ramping up its vaccination program for people with a disability.
Catholic Health Australia applauds the State Government for putting $5 million into a vaccination push for people living with a disability.
Setting up 10 pop-up centres in local government areas of concern and waiving the need for appointments are also excellent initiatives that will serve to help more people with a disability to get vaccinated against COVID - which is absolutely imperative.
CHA members in Victoria such as St John of God Accord and Mercy Health provide care to people who receive NDIS funding.
CHA Director of Strategy & Mission Rebecca Burdick Davies says: "This is very welcome news. It's good to see government stepping up and taking the vaccination to some of the most vulnerable members in our community.
"As a community we have to do everything in our power to make it as easy as possible for people with a disability to get vaccinated.
"We have to remove those barriers and we have to go to people with a disability and not expect them to venture into the wider community where the threat from Delta is greatest."
