Change to some telehealth rules for GP mental health services

Australian Medical Association

GPs should be aware that the rules around telehealth mental health support services in general practice have changed.

The Government has removed the requirement for patients to have an existing relationship with their medical practitioner to access a general practice telehealth or phone item related to certain mental health support services. This includes services provided under the Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists and General Practitioners through the MBS initiative (also known as Better Access).
