Changes coming to Toowoomba Region wheelie bin services

Residents across the Toowoomba Region are being asked to check if their property will be impacted by changes coming to weekly wheelie bin services, including change of days for some areas.

The changes will come into effect from July 1, 2023 and Toowoomba Regional Council has made an online tool available where residents can enter their property address and see if their collection day has changed.

TRC Water and Waste Portfolio Lead Cr Nancy Sommerfield said it was important residents familiarised themselves with the changes.

"Council wants to make this transition as smooth as possible for residents and that's why we've made a simple online mapping tool available for people to visit our web site, enter their address and check if their wheelie bin service day has changed.

"Customers impacted by a service day or a recycle week change should have also received a direct letterbox drop advising of the changes being made. If you live in one of the areas mentioned below, please visit the link to check your collection day and/or recycling week which may change from July 1."

"Council has a long-term Waste Management Strategy and these changes are being implemented from July 1 as part of our new contract with JJs Waste and Recycling which is a key component of that strategy.

"We are planning for growth and making sure that the Toowoomba region is well-serviced by a reliable wheelie bin service for years to come," Cr Sommerfield said.

Areas that will see their collection day and/or recycling week change include some areas of Highfields, Blue Mountain Heights, Cabarlah, Meringandan, Cawdor, Gowrie Junction, Middle Ridge, Kearneys Spring, Wilsonton, Cambooya, Nobby, Greenmount, East Greenmount, Ramsay, Clifton, Ryeford and Hodgson Vale.

Areas where collection days will not change but collection could be earlier or a change to where bins should be put out include Millmerran, Cecil Plains and Crows Nest.

To access the online mapping tool, residents should visit Waste Collection Days (tr.qld.gov.au)
