Two men have received a slice of justice following a raft of burglaries at East Auckland eateries.
Police had been busy piecing together a number of burglaries in the Howick area and made a breakthrough earlier this week.
Senior Sergeant Simon Cornish, of Counties Manukau East Police, says officers were investigating a burglary at a popular eatery on Cook Street in July, which led to the discovery of a further six burglaries all with similarities.
"The team has trawled through hours of CCTV and made several enquiries in relation to these incidents.
"Yesterday, Police executed two search warrants at properties in Papakura and two people were taken into custody."
Senior Sergeant Cornish says while enquiries continue into the pair's alleged offending, Police estimate they have stolen thousands of dollars' worth of property.
"These incidents have had a real impact on local businesses.
"It's great to deliver a positive resolution and hope it provides some reassurance to the community that we will continue to hold people to account for their actions."
Two men, aged 45 and 53, will appear in Manukau District Court on 16 September charged with seven counts of burglary.
Police continue to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour, or who has information that may assist ongoing investigations, to contact Police on 105.
