The Georges River Council Charity Golf Day has proudly raised an incredible $20,000 for the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF).
The annual Charity Golf Day, held on Friday 7 March 2025 at Hurstville Golf Course, brought together over 160 players from across the local golfing community. Organised in partnership with Lugarno Lions, who generously provided all catering, the event continues a proud 20-year legacy of community support for vital medical research.
The SSMRF is a not-for-profit organisation supporting vital, world-class research conducted at St George and Sutherland Hospitals. Backed by community fundraising, SSMRF enables life-changing research into cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental health, and more. The foundation ensures that breakthroughs in medicine directly benefit the local community and contribute to better health outcomes worldwide.
Georges River Council Mayor, Elise Borg, praised the ongoing commitment of local residents and organisations for supporting the Georges River Council Charity Golf Day.
"Georges River Council is proud to host this day as it showcases the generosity and spirit of our community.
"The funds raised will help drive life-changing research and improve health outcomes for our region and beyond.
"I want to thank Bluefit as our golf course managers and Stewart Hardiman, the course professional, for the success of the day."
The next fundraising event in the Georges River golf community calendar is the Pro-Am event scheduled for Wednesday 19 November 2025 at Hurstville Golf Course. The following day, Thursday 20 November, the action continues at Beverley Park Golf Course.
