Registered as a Charitable Trust under the Charitable Trusts Act (Cap. 55) of Solomon Islands, the alumni network will promote social and professional interaction among former Chevening scholars and provide help and professional advice to potential Chevening scholars.
The network will provide a forum for intellectual exchange between alumni members and the public; foster relations with Chevening alumni in other countries and the Chevening alumni Secretariat and participate in community and charitable activities.
President of the Chevening Alumni Solomon Islands, Brian Titus Leafasia said:
The official launch of the Chevening Alumni Solomon Islands marks a significant milestone not only for Solomon Islands but for the Chevening Scholarship as it enters its 40th year. Chevening Alumni Solomon Islands will work closely together with the British High Commission in ensuring education at a higher level in the UK is a reality to aspiring future Solomon Islands Chevening Scholars. The Alumni is all about networking, Leadership, creating future Pathways and creating a better world, not only for us but for those who come after us.
The Chevening Alumni Solomon Islands' mission is to inspire the next generation of scholars, draw from present expertise and create positive impact wherever we find ourselves.
Notable former Solomon Islands Chevening alumni include Hon. Peter Kenilorea Jnr (1997) and Solomon Islands Ambassador to Brussels Moses Mose (2001).
