Christmas in City of Whittlesea is for everyone

It's almost time to dig out your Santa hat, warm up your carolling voice and get ready for a festive night of fun at the City of Whittlesea Carols by Candlelight event on Friday 13 December.

There will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family including face painting, kids' activities, a makers market, waste free ideas for Christmas and food trucks all on the beautiful lawns of the civic centre.

Along with Christmas songs we'll be singing songs from many other cultures and traditions. This year we are singing in Boonwurrung, Macedonian, Spanish, south Indian, Arabic, Hebrew and more, with accompaniment by the wonderful Community Carols Choir and Diamond Valley Brass Band.

And of course, there will a special visit from Santa who's bringing a special touch of magic to the carols this year.

Residents are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport or walk or ride to the event.

South Morang train station is an easy 500m walk from the event and many bus routes also stop at the station.

Council is trying to reduce the impact on the environment, so this event will be free from polystyrene packaging and plastic items including balloons, bags and straws.

You are encouraged to bring along your own reusable coffee cup, bag, water bottle and picnic blanket, we'll supply the candles.

When: Friday 13 December, 7pm-9.30pm

Where: Terrace Lawns, Civic Centre 25 Ferres Boulevard South Morang
