Clarkson Debuts All-Abilities Playground

  • Playground opens with improved facilities focusing on inclusiveness and accessibility
  • Five themed spaces for children to explore and play
  • WA Labor Government provided $2.6 million contribution

A new, inclusive play space developed in Clarkson with significant funding from the Western Australian Government has proved an instant hit with children and parents.

The all-abilities playground at the Riverlinks Park has been designed and purpose-built to cater for children of all ages and abilities, with the play area based around five themed spaces of mountain, desert, beach, town/country and jungle.

The carpark near the playground has also been expanded, with an accessible toilet block due to be completed in coming weeks.

The $3.2 million project was supported by the WA Labor Government through a $2.6 million investment, with the remaining $620,000 contributed by the local government.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"This all-abilities playground is a fantastic initiative for local families and children with disabilities in our northern suburbs, and a great way for them to enjoy the outdoors in the community.

"It's important we continue to provide these purpose-built, inclusive spaces for children and families of all ages and abilities, so I'm really pleased our government has provided significant funding to support this project."

As stated by Mindarie MLA Mark Folkard:

"Already, this new playground is proving a hit with locals and we've seen many families and young people using this great new community asset.

"Everyone should be able to enjoy getting outside and being active, regardless of their ability, and it's great that we continue to back important projects like this that benefit our community."
