Climate Conversation Café On Countering Climate Misinformation

The Penn State Climate Consortium will host a Climate Conversation Café featuring Janet Swim, professor of psychology and associate director of the consortium. The event will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in 312 Earth and Engineering Sciences Building. Attendees may also register to participate virtually. Registration is required.

Swim's talk, titled "When Facts Meet Fiction: Communication Strategies for Countering Climate Misinformation," will explore evidence-based approaches for addressing climate misinformation. Drawing on insights from psychology and communication research, Swim will discuss strategies such as educational tools that help "inoculate" people against climate myths. Her research focuses on overcoming barriers to climate engagement, including how to effectively communicate climate science in an era of widespread misinformation.
