The Finocchiaro CLP Government is investing $980,000 to upgrade facilities at Raiders Park (also known as Goodline Park) in Rosebery Palmerston, delivering modern infrastructure that better supports local players, clubs, and the wider community.
These upgrades will strengthen community connection and support CLP commitment to restoring the Territory lifestyle by creating inclusive, accessible spaces where families and young people can come together through sport and recreation.
Upgrades include the installation of a new bore and solar pump, ensuring reliable irrigation to improve field quality, allowing for better training conditions and more consistent match play year-round.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering on an election commitment with a $980,000 investment at Raiders Park (also known as Goodline Park). The ground is set to undergo significant upgrades including a new bore and solar pump and updated infrastructure.
The installation of a new bore and solar pump will provide a reliable water supply to maintain high-quality playing fields year-round, supporting improved training conditions and match play for the Palmerston Raiders Rugby League Football Club and other sporting codes that utilise the grounds.
The upgrades will also include a new clubhouse featuring modern, inclusive amenities, including a dedicated changeroom for women, ensuring the precinct caters to players, coaches and volunteers of all backgrounds.
Minister for People, Sport and Culture Jinson Charls said the investment reflects a strong commitment to supporting active lifestyles across the Territory.
"This investment ensures the Palmerston and wider community have access to quality facilities that encourages participation and support families and young people to stay active and engaged in sport.
"The CLP Government continues to prioritise practical developments that drive inclusion and engagement through modern, inclusive changeroom facilities," he said.
Member for Blain Matthew Kerle said the project would deliver important benefits for the Palmerston community.
"As a proud Palmerston local and Member for Blain, I'm pleased to see this investment deliver quality facilities that will encourage more people to get involved in the sports they love, while supporting greater participation among young people," he said.
NRL NT General Manager Tony Crowe welcomed the investment as a positive step for the sport.
"The announcement of funding for Raiders Park is another positive step forward and demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting grassroots sport. Investments like this not only improve infrastructure but strengthen communities, create opportunities for young people and help ensure rugby league remains accessible to Territorians of all ages and backgrounds."
Palmerston Raiders Rugby League Football Club Life Member and Treasurer Tanya Hazel highlighted the impact of the new bore on the club's future.
"Having a bore will dramatically decrease our water bills annually which will allow us to invest in better playing conditions, more equipment and increased player participation facilitating better playing and training conditions."
These upgrades form part of the CLP Governments broader commitment to supporting community sport and recreation and strengthening the Territory's lifestyle.
