Mubarek Imam has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Yarra community – particularly in North Richmond - through his tireless work with multiple local community groups, his impactful leadership and his proactive approach to advocacy and change.

Mubarek's leadership within the North Richmond Precinct Community Committee has been instrumental in ensuring that community voices are not only heard, but also acted upon. On top of co-chairing the Health, Wellbeing and Participation group for the North Richmond Precinct Project, Mubarek also has also been involved in the Yarra Residents Voice group and established the Young Assets Foundation – providing invaluable resources, support and guidance to young people in Yarra.

The impact of Mubarek's work reaches far beyond Yarra – he sets a benchmark for community leadership through his engagements with senate representatives, notable features in media outlets like The Age and The Project as well as his contributions to local media like the Alphington Community Centre Covid Roulette podcast.

Mubarek's advocacy on behalf of public housing residents underscores his dedication to equity and the betterment of the entire Yarra community. While he holds formal roles in various community projects, much of what he does stems from a genuine desire to make a difference, a commitment to youth and community wellbeing, and a heartfelt passion for the people of Yarra.
