Edward River Council is inviting local community groups and organisations to apply for its 2026-2027 Community Grants Program, with applications opening on 1 July 2026.
Grants of up to $3,000 are available to support local not-for-profit organisations and community groups to deliver projects that make a positive difference across the Edward River region.
The annual program is a key investment in the community, supporting initiatives that create social, cultural and environmental benefits and help build a stronger, more connected community.
Council is encouraging community groups with great ideas to apply, with projects supported across a range of focus areas including bringing people together, celebrating identity and diversity, improving wellbeing, building skills, enhancing shared spaces, and increasing inclusion for vulnerable members of the community.
Mayor Ashley Hall said the Community Grants Program continues to play an important role in supporting grassroots initiatives that enrich local life.
"Each year we see incredible ideas come forward from our community - projects that strengthen connections, support wellbeing and create opportunities for people to come together," Mayor Hall said.
"I encourage all local community groups and organisations to take advantage of this opportunity. It's a great chance to tick off a wish list item for your group and to help turn great ideas into projects that benefit our whole community."
Recent successful projects funded through the program highlight the diverse ways funding supports the community, from a mental health community poster project initiated by Deni MHAG, to the installation of pickleball nets at Deniliquin Stadium encouraging more people to get active.
Growing the offerings at community events such as the Pretty Pine Father's Day Markets help to bring people together, while initiatives like the Deniliquin South Public School P&C water bottle refill station have improved everyday facilities for students.
The program has also supported creative and cultural outcomes, including the Deniliquin Film Society's 12-month film program at the Town Hall, demonstrating the wide-reaching impact of local ideas.
"These projects show how even small grants can have a big impact, supporting wellbeing, inclusion, creativity and community pride," Mayor Hall said.
Council encourages all eligible groups to take advantage of this opportunity and turn their ideas into reality.
Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Monday, 3 August 2026.
