City of Darwin, in partnership with the Rapid Creek Landcare Group, is inviting the community to roll up their sleeves and take part in a Rapid Creek Clean Up this Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 1 March 2026.
The community clean-up will focus on improving the health of Rapid Creek and surrounding waterways, helping to keep the local environment clean, safe and thriving for people and wildlife.
The event is open to all ages and abilities and provides a great opportunity for residents to come together, contribute to positive environmental outcomes and enjoy time outdoors with their community. A free BBQ will be provided for volunteers following the clean-up as a thank you for volunteer efforts.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said community-led initiatives like Clean Up Australia Day play an important role in caring for Darwin's environment.
"Rapid Creek is a valued part of our local environment, and events like this empower the community to take pride in protecting our waterways for future generations," Mr Styles said.
"By working together with local groups like Rapid Creek Landcare, we can make a real difference while strengthening community connections," he said.
Participants are encouraged to bring a hat, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent and gloves if available. Rubbish bags, some gloves and pick-up sticks will be provided on the day.
