Congress To Observe Local Elections In 10 Municipalities Of Serbia

A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will carry out a mission from 26 to 30 March to observe the local elections in 10 municipalities of Serbia, taking place on 29 March. On election day, six Congress teams will be deployed randomly to observe electoral procedures at polling stations.

The delegation will meet with representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-government, the Republic Electoral Commission of Serbia, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the diplomatic corps. The delegation will also hold panel discussions with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, representatives of the media and NGOs, and conduct briefings with candidates and political parties running in the elections.

A preliminary statement of findings will be released on the Congress website on Monday 30 March, at approximately 14:00.
