Conondale to Maleny Flexilink service improvements

Sunshine Coast Council

From February 1, travellers who use the Conondale to Maleny (via Witta) Flexilink transport service will have a new timetable that has been amended thanks to community feedback that was provided.

Flexilink services provide affordable, reliable and accessible public transport to people with fewer transport options.

The pre-booked services run three return trips per day, Monday to Saturday and in most cases, connect with existing public transport services for onward journeys.

Improvements to the Conondale to Maleny service from February 1:

  • Monday to Friday evening service will depart Conondale at 7pm, arrive at Maleny at 7.30pm and then return to Conondale.
  • Saturday and public holiday morning service will depart Conondale at 9am, arrive at Maleny at 9.30am and then return to Conondale.
  • Saturday and public holiday midday service will depart Maleny at 12.25pm, arrive at Conondale at 12.55pm and then return to Maleny.

The timetable changes will also better serve passengers catching the train from Brisbane and the connecting bus from Landsborough.

Transport Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said passenger numbers on the Conondale to Maleny service show strong community use.

"We have an average of 54 individual passengers using the service every month, and an average of 305 passenger trips per month," Cr Baberowski said.

"By contrast, the Peachester to Beerwah service has far less use, with passenger numbers in a steady decline, currently showing an average of only 16 passenger trips per month.

"It has to be said that if residents want the service to continue then use needs to increase or they need to help us understand how it can be improved or it may not make sense for it to continue."

Flexilink services are funded by council's Transport Levy on a trial basis to determine the demand for bus services in areas with limited public transport.

To book a Flexilink service phone 1300 511 163.

Bookings must be made at least two hours ahead of departure or by 9pm the previous evening for the first morning service.
