Covid Business Impact Support Program - Applications closing soon

Minister for Small Business

Madeleine Ogilvie,

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to support the small business sector, with round four of the COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program open until 12 May, 2022.

In the first three rounds of the program, almost 2,400 applicants received more than $5 million and so far, almost 200 businesses have received more than $400,000 in this fourth round.

Since the start of the pandemic Tasmanian businesses have received more than $160 million in COVID-specific support.

This support is having an impact and the latest CommSec's State of the State Report has Tasmania still leading the nation as 'the best performing economy in the country, now for the ninth consecutive quarter".

We recognise that while our economy is strong and that many businesses are doing very well, further support has been needed to assist some businesses as we continue to transition to living with COVID-19.

Applications for the COVID-19 Business Impact Support Program close at 2pm on Tuesday 12 May, and I would encourage any eligible business that experienced trading losses or reduced customer demand due to COVID-19 for the period of 15 April to 14 May to apply.

As we continue to transition to living with COVID-19, we are also supporting our small businesses to access specialist financial guidance and advice through our $1.2 million COVID 19 Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance Program which remains open for applications.

Ongoing support through the Business Tasmania service and the Enterprise Centres Tasmania program is also available to help businesses who are navigating the current operating environment and beyond.

As Minister for Small Business I am proud of the resilience that Tasmania's small businesses have displayed right throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
