A critical incident investigation has been launched after a man was shot by police in Sydney's north-west today.
About 11.20am (Tuesday 9 November 2021), officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended a home at Bulah Way, Seven Hills, to conduct inquiries to locate a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
When police arrived, they were approached by a man – aged 45 – armed with a knife and an axe.
A physical confrontation ensued, and the man was shot by police.
Police conducted CPR until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, who worked on the man; however, he could not be revived.
A number of residential streets remain closed, and a crime scene has been established.
A critical incident team from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will also be subject to an independent review.
No police officers were physically injured during the incident.
