The ongoing partnership between the Cook and Albanese Labor Governments continues to deliver much-needed social housing, with 15 new dwellings recently contracted as part of a $7.74 million development in Stirling.

Thomas Building have been awarded a contract to deliver the new homes following a competitive appointment process through the State Government's Housing Construction and Refurbishment Builders Panel.

The $7.74 million project is jointly funded through the Commonwealth Government's Housing Support Program Priority Works Stream and the Cook Government's Social and AffordableHousingInvestment Fund.

The development will comprise nine two-bedroom, four one-bedroom and two studio units less than 10 kilometres north of the Perth CBD.

The homes have been designed by local architecture firm Whitehaus and will be situated less than a kilometre from the Stirling Station and close to amenities including parks and recreation facilities.

The 15 new social housing dwellings are expected to be completed and ready for tenants in late 2026.

As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:

"This new project is a great example of our commitment to working with the Commonwealth Government to ensure more Western Australians have a safe and affordable place to call home.

"This $7.74 million development will help increase the supply of much-needed social homes in our northern suburbs.

"Our government is investing a record $5.8 billion in housing and homelessness measures and we have added more than 3300 social homes since 2021."

As stated by Federal Member for Perth Patrick Gorman:

"Safe, secure housing is vital to the wellbeing of every Western Australian.

"I am proud of the work the Albanese Government is doing to help people across the country into social and affordable housing.

"This is achieving national results and meeting the expectations of a local community that understands the difference a home can make."
