Death of inmate from Bath Institution - Regional Treatment Centre

On November 17, 2022, Abdallah Bassuny, an inmate from Bath Institution's Regional Treatment Centre, died while in our custody.

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of six years and six months for possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, and other offences, which commenced on January 20, 2022.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
