USAID

On August 21, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with leadership from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), including Executive Director Dr. Lawrence Haddad, Director of Policy and External Relations Steve Godfrey, Director of Donor Engagement Newal Sherif, and Director of Research Mdu Mbuya.

Deputy Administrator Coleman and GAIN leadership discussed nutrition financing, the impact of climate change on nutrition, and the importance of private sector investment. The conversation also highlighted USAID and GAIN's partnership on the Nutritious Foods Financing Facility (N3F). N3F is the first investment fund focused explicitly on improving diet quality and nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa through financing to small- and medium-enterprises involved in the provision of affordable, safe, and nutritious local food.

Additionally, Deputy Administrator Coleman and GAIN representatives discussed shared alignment and commitment to elevating food safety and generating data on dietary quality measures, with the goal of achieving more nutritious diets globally.
