Deputy Secretary Sherman's Meeting with Israeli Minister of Regional Cooperation Esawi Frej

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met with Israeli Minister of Regional Cooperation Esawi Frej earlier today in Washington and expressed her condolences regarding the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Israel. They discussed efforts to strengthen Israeli-Palestinian economic relations in a way that brings tangible improvements to the quality of life of the Palestinian people while also enhancing and deepening Israel's integration in the region. They also spoke about efforts to expand normalization and the importance of building on normalization agreements to further progress on the Israeli-Palestinian peace track. They discussed the importance of all Palestinians and Israelis living safely and securely with equal measures of freedom, dignity, and prosperity. The Deputy Secretary reaffirmed the administration's commitment to a two-state solution, and the importance of reducing intercommunal tensions in Israel ahead of the religious holidays.
