Designs Released For Next Year's New Schools

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is delivering the modern learning facilities students and families across the state need, with designs revealed for 12 new schools set to open in 2024.

Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins today unveiled the exciting designs for the 12 schools, which are among 14 set to open in 2024 and will enrol thousands of students between them - giving more local students a great education close to home.

Currently known by their interim names, the school designs revealed are:

  • Aintree Secondary School
  • Aintree Specialist School
  • Alexander Boulevard Primary School
  • Black Forest East Primary School
  • Brookfield Primary School
  • Lockerbie Central Primary School
  • Lollypop Creek Secondary School
  • Lollypop Creek Specialist School
  • Merrifield South Primary School
  • Officer Brunt Road Primary school
  • Riverdale Secondary School
  • Tarneit North Primary School

The 14 new schools for 2024 in total - which also include the new Truganina North Secondary School (interim name) and Truganina North Primary School (interim name), whose designs were unveiled in April - are busily preparing for the 2024 school year, starting with the appointment of principals who will recruit staff and design a curriculum.

Black Forest East, Tarneit North and Truganina North primary schools (interim names) will each include a kindergarten on the school site and are set to open in 2024, offering local families a total of 231 new kinder places.

The remaining new primary schools will all have kindergartens next door, either already operational, or to be operational within a year of the school's opening in 2024.

As part of the $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reform, the Labor Government has delivered a kindergarten on-site or next door to every new primary school since 2021, ensuring kindergarten programs are easier to access, drop-off time is simpler and more convenient for parents with a smoother transition from kindergarten to school.

Delivery of 100 new schools by 2026 is ahead of schedule, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 - ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
