Devil assists with Bayswater arrest

Police from Boronia have charged a man following an alleged attempted theft from motor vehicle in Bayswater this morning.

The 35-year-old man was seen by a witness as he allegedly searched the contents of a vehicle parked on Mountain Highway about 5.30am.

The man left on foot and was followed by the witness who called police.

Police arrived on scene within minutes and the Dog Squad member along with Devil tracked the man to a nearby factory.

The man allegedly ran from police.

Devil took chase and arrested the man nearby.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene for a bite to the bottom and has since been charged with two counts of attempted theft from motor vehicle and going equipped to steal.

The Don Valley man was released on bail and will appear at Ringwood Magistrate's Court on 1 October.
