Driver charged, cyclist remains critical, NSW

A driver has been charged and a cyclist remains in a critical condition following a crash near Cronulla this morning.

About 7am (Wednesday 26 December 2018), emergency services were called to Captain Cook Drive, Greenhills Beach, following reports of a crash between a cyclist and Holden Astra.

The cyclist, a 63-year-old man, was taken to St George Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical condition.

The driver, a 72-year-old man, wasn't injured and was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was later arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm; and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The Kurnell man was given bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on 10 January 2019.
