Driver critical after single-vehicle crash near Young

A man remains in a critical condition following a single-vehicle crash near Young yesterday.

Just after 8.30am (Saturday 30 January 2021), a Holden Commodore was travelling north on the Olympic Highway, Wallendbeen, about 30km south of Young, when it left the road and hit a tree.

The driver and sole occupant, a 30-year-old man, was freed by emergency services after being trapped for a short time.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head, leg and other injuries and taken to Young Hospital. He was later airlifted to Canberra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended, and a crime scene was established.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
